The Moxi Laser Process: What to Expect
Book a Consultation
At Lumina Vein & Aesthetic Institute, consultations are where we truly get to know you. We’ll listen to all of your concerns, assess the current condition of your skin, and work with you to determine a treatment plan that fits your lifestyle and budget. From beginning to end, you’ll have our full attention.
Sit Back and Relax
When you arrive for the Moxi laser in Windermere, your provider will prep your treatment area by cleansing your skin to remove dirt and debris and applying a topical numbing cream. Our high-quality care focuses on making sure you are comfortable and confident during the entire treatment process.
Next Steps
Once the Moxi laser treatment is complete, we will assess the treated area and give you a brief review of your post-treatment instructions. At this time, we’ll book any follow-up appointments needed to maintain your overall treatment plan and help you make the most of your results!
In the time leading up to your Moxi laser treatment, we recommend you:
- Avoid dermal filler injections for 1 month before and after your Moxi session.
- Avoid waxing, facials, hair removal (threading, electrolysis, etc.), extensive sun exposure, or any other laser treatments in the treatment area at least a week prior to your procedure.
- Stop using topical skin treatments (with the exception of a gentle cleanser, moisturizer, and sunscreen) 3 days before the treatment.

Following your Moxi treatment, your skin will be red and swollen. This is expected and should subside after several days. To take care of your skin, you should:
- Sleep with your head elevated to minimize swelling.
- Use cool compresses to reduce swelling.
- Avoid strenuous exercise and sweating until your skin has healed.
- Do not use any cleansing devices or brushes (i.e. Clarisonic), exfoliating scrubs, or other topical products for at least 10 days following your treatment.
- Avoid any UV exposure for 24 hours and use sunscreen consistently starting the day after treatment.
- Do not rub, pick, scratch, or itch the area in any way.

Frequently Asked Questions
What does the Moxi treatment feel like?
Most clients experience very little discomfort with the Moxi laser in Windermere. We apply a topical anesthetic and incorporate a simultaneous cooling technology to help combat any potential unpleasant sensations from the Moxi laser itself. Most clients describe their experience during the Moxi laser treatment as a feeling of heat with occasional prickling sensations.
After the treatment is complete, the treated area will feel warm for about an hour, with temporary redness and possible swelling that will dissipate after about 1 to 3 hours.
How many treatments do I need?
Every client has different goals they wish to achieve. Our Moxi laser in Windermere can address a variety of these goals! During your initial consultation, your provider will learn everything there is to know about your skin concerns. From there, we will share our recommendations on how many sessions it will take to get you there (along with complementary treatments we can incorporate into your long-term care plan).
Generally, we recommend between 1 and 3 treatments for the best results. If you choose to get more than one Moxi laser treatment, your sessions should each be scheduled 4 to 6 weeks apart. You can also get them as needed to maintain your results long-term.
Am I a good candidate for Moxi?
Most patients are good candidates for the Moxi laser. However, during your consultation, we'll determine if other forms of treatment will be more beneficial. If you have an active skin infection or active acne, take certain medications, and have certain health conditions like cancer, we may recommend a different treatment to help you achieve your goals.
